On November 15, 2005, the President of the Spanish Government, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, lead the official entering into revenue service of the Madrid-Toledo High Speed Line.

This commissioning ends the process started with the award to a consortium including Dimetronic of the “Project, works and maintenance of the overhead contact line, interlocking, train protection systems, telecommunications, GSM-R radio system and associated elements for the La Sagra-Toledo section within the New High Speed Railway Access to Toledo”.

The journey from Madrid to Toledo runs though 54 km of the existing Madrid-Seville HSL - up to La Sagra, where the new branch stretches 21 km to the capital of La Mancha.

Within the Consortium, Dimetronic has been responsible for the design, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the Signalling system along the line, including Westrace electronic interlocking and associated Local Control Panels, network communications, Juridical Recorder and Maintenance Aid System. Westrace will be controlling all Signalling equipment along the track. The scope of Dimetronic includes also the national ASFA train protection system.

The contract date assumed with the Ministry and ADIF for the commissioning has been complied with entirely – which adds to Dimetronic’s impressive record of delivering safe and reliable Signalling systems in due time.
