On November 14, 2006, RENFE Operadora awarded Dimetronic with the manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of 1,183 ASFA TBS (“Digital ASFA”) train-borne equipment for several type of vehicles of its fleet. This contract adds to the previous award of 400 equipment for RENFE in July and 80 for ADIF in August 2005.
These projects envisage the progressive replacement of the existing ASFA equipment – on board the RENFE trains for over 30 years, with the new digital equipment in a period of 24 months. The new ASFA is also foreseen on board the new trains now being manufactured under the contracts recently awarded by RENFE.
The new Digital ASFA system enhances the quantity and efficiency of the driving controls, using all nine frequencies available to the system. Its digital components greatly improve the equipment reliability, also modifying the visual and acoustic indications in order to increase the level of attention of the drivers – a friendly-user screen incorporates the speed controls to be watched.
The ASFA TBS equipment is capable of enhancement to the STM ASFA module, which will allow compatibility with the on-board ETCS equipment.
The ASFA TBS system by Dimetronic has already passed through its design phase and will undergo manufacturing in the upcoming months.
