In 21-04-04 the new sections Lousado – Nine and Nine – Braga were commissioned by REFER. This infrastructure refurbishment included the upgrade of the existing track to a double layout and the line’s electrification, along with the new telecommunications and Signalling systems. The SSI-based Signalling system was awarded to Dimetronic, including the supply, installation, testing and commissioning. The works were finished within 4 months and include the open line sections and the stations of Famalicão, Nine, Arentim, Tadim, Ramal de Mercadorias and Braga. The command and control was integrated at the existing electronic panel of Lousado. In a total of 35,380 Km of double line, 125 wayside signals, 127 track circuits and 48 point machines were installed under the control of 6 SSI-type electronic interlocking cubicles, adding up a total of 293 routes.
