The new OCC for the Porto Area was inaugurated by REFER in the past month of April. The ceremony was chaired by the Secretary of State of Transports Ana Paula Vitorino, REFER’s President Luis Filipe Melo e Sousa Pardal and the President of CP, Francisco Cardoso dos Reis.
This new Control Centre is housed in an architecturally striking, highly innovative building specifically designed for this task. The control room itself occupies 380 sq meters, and includes 20 operation posts and 38 high definition DLP retro-projection panels. From these panels, real time monitoring of over 460 km of line is carried out. Systems under command and control include Signalling – with Automatic Route Setting and Train Graph functionalities, Traction Power, Passenger Information, CCTV and Building Management. Expansion plans of the area under control are foreseen for the near future.
