The SSI-based Signalling system was awarded to Dimetronic, including the stations of Ourique, Funcheira, Amoreiras, Luzianes, Santa Clara, São Marcos, Messines, Tunes, Albufeira, Boliqueime, Loulé, Parque das Cidades, Faro and Olhão. The Ermidas Sado – Tunes section is controlled by the existing CTC at Setúbal, while the Tunes – Olhão section is controlled by a new CTC at Faro station, also supplied by Dimetronic.

In a total of some 170 Km of track, 177 wayside signals, 132 track circuits, 91 axle counters and 63 point machies were installed, controlled by 9 SSI type electronic interlocking cubicles.

The branch from Ermidas to Ramal da Somincor was also refurbished to a total of 40 Km, upgraded for 220 Km/h line speed. The upgrade included the modifications of the track layout at the Ermidas-Sado and Grândola stations.
